This was powerful...and my immediate context for ministry leadership (at least in my head, and my justifications for how I address my ministry).

However, consider that this model involves multiple pastors on staff. How does this play out in one pastor churches?

Any ideas about how to deal with this, or help carry it out in the local church context with only a single pastor? Is it best to hire an "associate pastor" just to fit the model?

Peace,

my church from childhood disbanded with the senior pastor titles and roles. although i think everyone always took the pastor with the most seniority as the senior pastor, the division of responsibility was more even and when one pastor retired it made for an easy transition. we also experienced a tremendous amount of growth during these years

It's an interesting idea. Certainly the laity in local churches have moved to this model, where we do not have permission giving/restricting committees, but teams of laypeople who do the work of the church. The pastoral model suggested here is just an extension of what the laity are already moving to.
